Yes (well, almost certainly!) I selected that category for Q4 (didn't realize earlier it would count for FiOS). So the amount shown here was my September bill (and so only 1%), which I had charged to the card just to meet the sub, but I assume my payment in Oct will earn the 5%
I my situation if use a credit card other then my verizon visa 2% I will lose my auto pay discount ($10 a month ).I use my PayPal key which is a debit for the 5% when chase or discover has paypal category. So I am getting the 5% plus $10 for the autopay discount.

Wasn't there something specific about the Auto Pay for Verizon Visa and the $10 discount? I auto pay with VV and I dont think I get the discount. The reason if I recall correctly it was only offered for those who didn't have Auto pay at the time of geting the Verizon Visa acceptance...trying to remember 🤔

To get the autopay discount you need to pay with either a checking account, debit card or the Verizon visa. If it's any other cc you lose the discount. I have Fios and Verizon cellular 4 lines. I save $10 for Fios plus $10x4 =$40 cell so $50 every month for autopay. The PayPal Key is great because it is a debit and allows for the discount as well. I have not tried it yet with my newly acquired World MasterCard Max Cash to see if it gets the additional 5% because I am using my Chase Freedom Flex with the PayPal key this quarter.
How do I get this PayPal Key everyone is talking about? Doesn't seem to be available to me for some reason.
Also do payments via PayPal Key qualify for cellphone protection offered by the backing credit card?

Are you talking about FiOS or Verizon Wireless. The autopay discount for Wireless is also restricted to certain plans (for postpaid, generally those unlimited, with one exception)

Some people seem to be having trouble getting (or getting again) PPK, see this thread:
Paypal key for credit card payments - myFICO® Forums - 6409347
My assumption is that you still get any benefits, the bill really is being paid with the credit card, which is what matters.
I've tried to get it, and I keep getting "coming soon" message.
@MrDisco99 I've had a business PapPal account since 2014. My PP debit card expired in 2016, they didn't send a replacement and I never bothered to call for another one. I read (I think on reddit) recently that someone first had to get the debit card, then they were able to get the PP Key. A month ago I checked to see if I had the PP Key available to me and I did not.
So, a couple weeks ago I decided to give that method a try. I called to have my business PP account downgraded to a Personal Premium account. Then I told them I wanted a debit card and I inquired about the PP Key. I was transferred over to a debit card specialist. The CSR was very kind....she sent me a link to both the debit card setup instructions and a link for PP Key. I first set up the debit card link to make sure that was done first. Afterward, I used the PP Key link she gave me.....it took me to the same PP Key page you normally see, (to check availability).....however, this time I had access to the Key.
So I can confirm it is currently available to some.....I'm not sure exactly what part of the process triggered it for me (I'm thinking maybe the link she gave me) but like I say, it's been about 2 weeks now since I got it.
