Enharu, Creditaddict, and other CC gurus.

Made my last big purchase for awhile, been in the garden until I bought my son a new car today.  That's done...  Now, time for my very first app spree.   Throw me some out there.  My travel is paid for by my employer,  Government.  So travel rewards arent that big of a deal for me.

I have DiscoverIT, Barclays NFL, and a few cards.  Walmart, Lowes, etc.

So throw something out there for me,,, before I talk myself out of it!  (already out of the garden, so I've gotten myself worked up for this)

Oh we get the thrill of a spree with no INQ, no risk to scores and AAoA damage I'm in....Freedom and BCP

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Re: Enharu, Creditaddict, and other CC gurus.

When you say travel rewards - do you mean rewards for travel purchases or rewards to be redeemed for travel? My employer pays for all my travel expenses as well, but I use card rewards for personal travel, and find it quite valuable. For instance, $400 signup on Barclays Arrival...

Also, 1.5% cashback with no annual fee on CapOne Quicksilver is a good deal for general spending rewards. There aren't many better offers out there right now.

You could always load up on Barclays and get the SallieMae MasterCard to get 5% in spending up to $250 a month in a bunch of categories.

Whoever posted this yesterday was a genius:

If it is still available, and you are willing to push the envelope a little, I don't think you can easily beat the 5x TY card.

Re: Enharu, Creditaddict, and other CC gurus.

Saw in other thread that the closest branch is 100 miles away.  So, just the plan is:

1) Drive to the branch

2) Apply for the card!

Edit: Add step 0, call the branch to make sure the offer is still available!

How do you feel amount Amex? BCP, BoA Cash Rewards, Freedom for their rotating categories. Personally, I'm not a big fan of Citi so I'll defer to others concerning their cc's.

I would say PenFed, FNBO, or Fid Amex too!

Re: Enharu, Creditaddict, and other CC gurus.

The only reason I push Citi is because of the financial value.   BCP maxes out the top category (groceries) at $300 per year (and has a $75 fee).  The 5x Citi gives 5% rather than 6%, but is uncapped, leading to much higher rewards, then it is 5% on gas, rather than BCP 3.  It has drug stores rather than "select department stores" which is better for some and worse for others I guess.  (But drug stores have value, see below!)

So even for normal use, it is a great card for 12 months, out-performing most other cards, at least those where you are not transferring miles to FF program.

And for "abnormal" spending, for those near a good CVS, or supermarket + Walmart.....

Re: Enharu, Creditaddict, and other CC gurus.

Is that Citi card still available? Or is the jury still out on that one?

I haven't seen any recent success stories, but I also haven't seen Bigfoot in a long time either. I should really send him an email...
