Re: Everyday Rewards Card Recommendations

Applied and approved for AMEX BCP and Citi DoubleCash cards.

AMEX BCP $10,500 CL

Citi DC $7,900 CL

We will use the BCP card to take advantage of the 6% at Meijer up to the $6k and for 3% Gas station purchases, Citi DC card will be used for everything else. T

This will be the first time my wife and I have attempted to use credit to leverage our current and normal spending, we are pretty excited! We have been paying with a debit card for everything and kind of looked at using credit cards as taboo, but this site has really shed light on the repsonsible useage of credit and making ourmoney work for us!

Thank you all for your suggestions and help, truthfully appreciate it!!

Re: Everyday Rewards Card Recommendations

One thing one may not have noticed for the first 6 months with your first 6 months of Amex BCP you get 10% at eating out total limit of that pay out  $200 ?.  You will also get your spend bonus  $150 or $250 depending on how you signed up.  We love our Amex BCP card. It gets most use, followed by Citi DC and bring up the rear our Disco card. Disco has some quarterly 5% bonus items we like.  Enjoy your new Amex card.

Re: Everyday Rewards Card Recommendations

This is one of the most informative and entertaining threads I've read in a while.

Will he go for the groceries and dining out?

Will the across-the-board rewards of Citi win the day?

Uh oh! Some additional competitors tried to make their way into the mix!

Then, sensibility won out and the two-card solution made the most sense.

I feel like I just watched an episode of Credit Bachelor.

Re: Everyday Rewards Card Recommendations

Congratulations on the approvals OP. I guess I'm too late to offer my thoughts on BCP vs BCE. Just in case you're still interested, below is a graph of the cash back for the two cards:

At right around $3,300 of groccery spending per year the BCP pulls ahead of the BCE. So, as long as you spend between $3,300-6,000 in grocceries a year, it is a great card!

Thank you! We are really excited! We will likely max out the BCP at $6,000 between grocery and pet food, Cities DC after that.

Here is a chart with your 2 cards, the Amex-BCP then the Citi-DC after maxing out the rewards cap

Another chart with the BCP, 3% Cashback, 2% Cashback.

Re: Everyday Rewards Card Recommendations

Very enlightening thread.

I may have to adjust my long term credit card strategy as a result. Or at the very least, give it some deep thoughts.

Thanks OP for starting this thread.

Hope everything works out well with your 2 card Daily Double of Amex BCP and Citi DC.
