Hello everyone.
Im looking to open a few cards soon. What are your favorite cards for rewards and generous SL and CLIs?
thanks
For cashback it's hard to beat the bofa customized cash if you can reach platinum honors since it entitles you to a 5.25% return on the bonus category. I would say the travel category is the most inclusive of all the travel cards.
as for rewards that goes to the chase sapphire if you want a travel card and can use its travel partners since I fly swa a lot I like this card.

- If you don't have a relationship with Amex, defnitely go for the Cash Magnet. Regardless of what your SL is, you can get generous CLIs not long after opening, and upgrade paths to BCE / BCP. Once you're in their system future cards you open are soft pulls.
- Chase gave me a generous auto CLI on my Freedom Unlimited not long after opening, and they have been a good lender to deal with; Amex takes the cake though.
- If you have a relationship with BofA they are generous with CLI's and have good multipliers depending on how much you have on deposit with them
- I've heard Navy Federal is great too if you qualify, but I don't have first hand experience. They will likely be my next personal app if / when the time comes.
Rewards depends on your spend. There are cards with top-tier rewards, but may only fit your spend if you're a frequent traveler. AMEX has some great top-tier options, as well as other cards out there such as Chase CSR, USB Altitude Reserve to name just a couple of examples. If you're not flying or staying in hotels frequently maybe a cash back option is better. There are tons of great options out there but cards like the AMEX BCP are a quick earner with 6% at the grocery store and 3% at the pump. US Bank/Elan also have some outstanding offerings for cash back cards that do not have an AF that offer rates up to 5% cash back. Both of these lenders can be very generous with SP CLIs, but that is IF they like your profile.
I have a rocky past with the bk7 on my reports and low income but i have a few good cc;s
Discover - is best for first year with 10 pct cb in their categories, 5 pct cb thereafter, frequent bt offers
NFCU - fast growing cc's, known to give high sl's with good credit particulars, fairly low interest capped at 18 pct
Penfed - not so great with cli's but extend regular bt offers, fairly low interest capped at 17.99
YMMV

Why not go for the BCE/BCP straight away if that is the goal? CM isn't easier to get than those IMO and the rewards are poor. Also, soft pulls for future cards is likely but not certain, several people here have had an HP for a subsequent card.

The caveat is that the card has a 3% FTF so for foreign travel the card would be useful for prepaid items like airline tickets bought and paid for beforehand in the US but not such a great choice for things like settling hotel bills upon checkout.
