Fidelity card is too confusing

I applied for the Fidelity 2% card a few months ago (I removed it from my sig though as I will probably be closing it soon).

Has anybody else found it really hard to pay off though, or is it just me?

I only use Fidelity for my 401k.

When navigating to the 'card overview' there is no clear 'TAKE MY MONEY' button.

I have to fund a pointless Fidelity account with some cash, then transfer that to my credit card.

To top it all off I transferred 20c too short to pay off the cards balance, but I have now received an email from Fidelity warning me I will receive a fee if they cannot withdraw the correct amount tomorrow (their second attempt).

This pointless account is linked directly to my checking so I have no idea why taking it out of there wasn't an option.

Just had to transfer another $10 to this pointless Fidelity account as that is the minimum I can transfer.

Now it is most likely not going to be done tomorrow and I will receive a fee.

NIGHTMARE. (The Citi Double has already taken its place in my wallet)

Sounds very frustrating.

Why not just push a payment out from your regular bank?

I didn't even think of that, but that is an idea.

I am just used to clicking pay on a mobile app or online and it just being DONE.

I do that with my Chase cards, my Amex cards and my Sallie Mae...

IME, I've never had any issues making payments.  I've pushed payments from my bank and from BoA.  You can also pay by phone of from the FIA Card Services website (Bill Pay Choice).  From the Fidelity.com website, payments can be remitted from your CMA or your brokerage account (if you enrolled properly).

Well if you decide to close it, Citi DC is the same payout and is accepted at way more places.  One reason I might hang onto Fidelity is that people manage to get those credit limits up to crazy high amounts over time, which is always nice, but also since it is FIA, you can transfer limits to other BofA products if you want, or even new products that might come along down the road.  Maybe an Alaska Air Visa or one of their cash back cards.

I covet the Fidelity card, but mostly because I included BofA in my BK7 and am on their blacklist.  You always want what you can't have!  LOL.

Re: Fidelity card is too confusing

I totally get the same way about making payments...then forget I could just go online to checking for a billpay.  Have to do that fairly often with citi if something is pending that I want paid asap.

Anywho, I would hang on to the fidelity card. I think its awesome you are only 21 and have the card. I mean who knows, maybe you will want to start saving your earnings from the card into an investment account?

After I try out MR's for a year or two, if it doesn't work out, I could always transition to all cash back, and move the rewards into a 5% APY net spend premier prepaid debit account.

I wonder what will end up with this? Gues its not really possible to move limits from this card, but maybe some day?

Re: Fidelity card is too confusing

I think really what I was doing, was looking for an easy and quick way to pay, and I didn't find that with Fidelity.

At all.

I wanted one website or app to make the payment, not two.

I didn't want to have to pick up the phone either.

With any other lender there is usually a big button saying "PAY".

Fidelity's should of read "TRY CLICKING HERE TO MAYBE SEE IF YOU CAN PAY OR MAYBE TRANSFER SOME CASH TO TRANSFER TO ANOTHER ACCOUNT".

Yeah I might keep it, after all, I did have to go through a HP for it. This whole situation just made me angry.

That was the whole point of me getting it in the first place though, I did like the idea of it almost forcing me to use the rewards for savings rather than just lowering my CC balance which I always PIF anyway.

I bank with BoA and Chase so that is also good to know! If they do charge me that fee though, I might just burn the card in a fire and then send it back to them in the mail.

Realizing you want simplicity with life and payment methods, it's not the end of the world.  Payment options are provided it's not like it was limited to one payment method/option.  Not every lender affords the same capability (let alone technical advantages) through an app or website.  That's just life!

Re: Fidelity card is too confusing

What are you even talking about??  Go here ------>  https://secure.fiacardservices.com

This is the exact same software that BofA used up until recently.

Log in and then click the big link to the right that says:  "Pay a bill"

Then click the link that says:  "Pay This Account"

Then select the payment date.  Enter the payment amount.  Select the funding account.

The funding account can be any checking account.  I have 3 checking accounts setup.

Click Continue.

This is literally identical to the way the BofA site was until just recently and the FIA site will be upgrading soon also.

You don't have to transfer anything anywhere.
