Re: Fingerhut credit line increase 2014

I saw that they sometimes have nice sales, but the temp increases and decreases is silly. On top of their prices normally, I will be closing my account with them. I only had it about 6-7 months, but it was because I didn't know that I could do better. I am canceling my account with them. I have gotten CLIs and also a new card today so the UTL wouldn't even be close to being a factor for me.

I think after a long while, I might consider closing mine too after it's completely served it's purpose. It was actually one of my highest credit lines until Amex came along.

Re: Fingerhut credit line increase 2014

I would have closed this account, but it is my oldest one & I have maybe a dozen other newer ones that were only opened within the last 2 years. FH has helped my score, but the time will come to let them go.

Re: Fingerhut credit line increase 2014

Fingerhut use to be CIT Bank, then in jan 2013 it changed to Metabank. After the change it's been Credit limit increases and decreases. This last time they gave me a temporary increase of $700 but ONLY if I buy $700 of goods, then if i don't by 6-30-2014 they will decrease the limit again by $500.

I opened my card with FingerHut in December as I was trying to rebuild - to show more positive TLs than negative. I purchased 2 things from there, and I don't even know where they are anymore. Just to show usage. CL was and remains at $350. Just yesterday, I was looking into how to close it and per the member agreement, it says I have to write to WebBank (or whatever the name of the bank is now).  So I may very well close it soon. Listen, it helped me when I needed it, but right now, it no longer is serving a purpose. Time to move on.

Re: Fingerhut credit line increase 2014

Yes it is now WebBank. It has helped me tremendously and I am grateful. I just don't like being tempted with buying soo much to get a CLI.

Good to hear you got CLI!, Fingerhut is a good card to rebuild on. I had sockdrawed mine for years and it is now my longest trade line.
