Re: First Post: Home Depot vs. Lowes

Yeah, if you still need more I would try for the lowe's card. Can't hurt to have both. They're with different lenders.

Plus...GE cards are pretty bangin.

Welcome Marty!

Just curious, did you get the Lowe's card?

After all the new accounts I've opened within the last couple of months I'm in the garden until 12/13!!

I will have to share your excitement... LOL

Re: First Post: Home Depot vs. Lowes

I was denied by Lowe's with a 650 tu twice, so I applied for Home Depot and was approved for a 500 cl and a 645 ish Eq. After about two months of moderate useage I asked for an increase to 2500 and they gave me more than requested to a cl of 2750. Then in November I applied for Lowe's again (they're close to my home than HD) and they approved me for a cl of 300. I quickly called and asked them to match my HD card and they did without issue. They're great cards to have since HD always has 0% finance offers and Lowe's has 5% off daily purchases and seldom 0% finance offers but HD usually offers longer terms with their offers. I say they're both great cards to have and they both grow fairy quickly but keep in mind that HD customer initiated increases are HP on EQ and they're Citibank back and Lowe's are SP and you can request increases every four months with them since its a GECRB backed card.

You can call the backdoor # for a GECRB underwriter to reconsider you for a higher credit limit.

honestly yes! but i mean its a soft pull so it really doesnt matter. they can counter it. (on the ge card)

for my walmart i trippled the first time and then doubled on my second cli. so its possible.

I always ask for more and let them counter me for less.  After all, they are only going to give you the max that they can give you.  If you ask for and are qualified for the max then more than likely they will give it to you, but if you ask for under the max then they might give you that too Smiley Very Happy.
