Yeah, this is why a flat-rate card with a FTF is a no-go for me.
As an aside, I'm upgrading to the 5.25% for online shopping with the BofA CCR next month. Which has a FTF. Fortunately, it's down to only 1% with the same rank of status, so 4.25% still beats most everything else unless you have a store-specific card.
So I mentioned the problem to the vendor who asked for details (they think their site is US!) and I showed them the 40c charge and the MCC for "Computer Services". They are now sending me another $40 product for the inconvenience.
Which now changes my whole message. With some vendors, use cards with (small) FTF, might be worth it!

This works out to~1000% cashback on foreign transaction fees . What a card
