Re: Former WaMu Cards w/Chase - What happened to your card?

I had two WAMU cards, one with a $2000CL and another with a $700CL, both were closed immediately when Chase took over with no reason given.

About $215,000 total credit among 11 cards

Dameon773:

you said, "the only reason they list is "Delinquency or other derogatory relationship with our bank."  Derogatory relationship? Delinquency?"

I think you should call and go up the chain until you speak with an "account specialist" or whatever they call it there, and find out what they mean.  Make them explain it to you.

I once spoke to one of these people at Chase.  We must have spent 1/2 hour on the phone while she went over my credit history with a fine-toothed comb and asked me pointed questions.  It was a very detailed conversation.  I still didn't get what I wanted, but it seemed like she wanted to give me the CLI I was asking for, but decided not to after interrogating me and telling me what I should do to improve my credit and what would make them want to give me a CLI.

Even though I didn't get what I wanted, I appreciated it that she spent time and gave it some real consideration, and she gave me exact reasons and solid advice.

I'm telling you this because I think they can do the same for you, and at the very least they can tell you what they found to be derogatory, and maybe even straighten it out since it sounds like they are in the wrong for saying you had a delinquency or derogatory experience with them !

Same here. Change caused sky rocket increase in APR without even a single baddie on CR. Never late on payments. Had to fight once to get a CLI. Stilll sitting at $1,500. The only reason to keep it open is the age sinice that was my 2nd card in 2007.

Re: Former WaMu Cards w/Chase - What happened to your card?

I will NEVER do business with Chase again. They converted my loyal WaMu (I miss them so much) to a Chase Perfect Card, they say they will keep my account open if I allow them to ratejack my WaMu from 11.99% to 20.99%. I willingly agreed, because WaMu was my first credit card/tradeline that was opened since I was 18. I wanted to keep my credit history and awesome credit limit of 12k. Needless to say, I accepted and Chase closed my account anyway 3 months later after I agreed to play their rules, and now I am stuck paying off a 20.99% APR. Chase is EVIL, and again, i will NEVER do business with Chase again.

Re: Former WaMu Cards w/Chase - What happened to your card?

"I would make a monetary bet on his orange WaMu card being cancelled by Chase before August."

That was a quote from myself on page 3 of this thread.  I lost the bet - good thing I didn't place any actual money on it (but if I did, I'd only have to pay myself.)

Since that post, I have paid off my $3,788 CL (yes, that's correct) card and paid my $2,000 closed card down to $970 balance, and I called today to gripe and complain about the interest rate on my larger (the only one still open) card.  I was hoping they'd convert my card to a better card with a higher limit, lower APR, ability to take advantage of some kind of BT deal... just anything and everything they could offer me.

All I got out of it was a converstion to the Chase Freedom, but I'll take it!  The hubs called up to have his converted too, so now our former WaMu cards, which became plain no-name Chase nothing-special cards are now Freedom cards, and the new cards are in the mail.  As long as the account age is the same (they said it would be), then that's fine with me.  All other account terms the same, they said... but I will wait and see if I have the ability to do a BT offer as if it's considered a "new" card.

Re: Former WaMu Cards w/Chase - What happened to your card?

Hello all. Just wanted to provide an update of what happened with my card.  First - I didnt realize Chase outsourced its credit card division. The reason I bring this up is not to necessarily complain, but to demonstrate what happens when people cannot communicate and/or if you get an answer you dont like try again.

I called the number on the back of my card and asked the gentleman who answered what would my chase visa (which was previously WaMu) be converted to on my expiration date since Chase does not offer a plain Visa.  There seemed to be a communication barrier because he continued to reiterate the card would automatically be resent on my expiration date. No matter how i rephrased the question he didnt seem to understand that (1) I wanted to know what it would be converted to since Chase does not offer a plain Visa (or if it would remain a plain Visa) or (2) am I able to do a product change.

Hung up frustrated and went to a branch.  They were just about as helpful and stated I would need to apply for a Freedom if I wanted to product change. That my current card matched with the Slate in the current line up and that is what would probably be issued. Asked if I could convert to a slate ... no.

Waited a week truly frustrated and called back to the credit card call center. After hearing a foreign voice and hanging up three times I realized must be outsourced. Based on my initial experience, I just wanted to speak to someone without the language barrier. On call four I gave in and talked to the representative, told him the branch advised my card would match in the current line up to a Slate, and asked to product change to that card.

Still somewhat of a language barrier so I misunderstood a question he was asking me. Thought he said you want to apply for the Freedom versus the Slate, and what he was doing was questioning why I wanted to go to the Slate versus the Freedom. Stated freedom would give me rewards, etc, and I could keep my current 8.24% apr. I stated i didnt want the inquiry on my report and he stated my account showed I could make the change no credit check and new cards would be sent in 5-7 days, benefits would happen within 24hrs.

Moral to my long story ... if you have a Chase card previously issued by WaMu, call to see what product change you are eligible for. More importantly. dont give up in frustration - regroup and try again.

Have a great day and enjoy your holiday all.

Re: Former WaMu Cards w/Chase - What happened to your card?

1st incident -

I had my WaMu card which got converted to plain gray chcase visa. Alongiwth with that followed a big jump of APR from around 8% to 20%. Also I have called them twice in these three years for a CLI but a standard response that I get it Chase reviews their customers CL and adjusts it periodically. Don't know when my periodically will come? The only reason that I have this card open is because this was my 2nd card and is helping big time in AAoA.

2nd incident -

We opened a chase checking account at one of the nearby branch and suddenly few months later all sorts fo charges kicked in for which there was no escape was available fo had to close that checking account.

3rd incident -

During the process of opening a checking account one of the brach person slipped in a chase cc form which my wife signed by mistake without looking into it and 2 months later recieved a brand new gray plain chase visa card with $500 CL and a nice APR of 29.99% and an annual fee. Had to close that one year.

Chase SUCKS

I would never recommend chase to anybody.
