Yes, I can't either stress how important setting up automatic min payment, I have mine set up in my online banking, best thing ever and no extra worry. Which, lets me push as many payments as I want. Also, set all your payments to the same due date, another great option to keep everything organized.
@Anonymous, because you stated that you'd have been OK had you paid by January 1, you're not 30 days late. If you could confirm the due dates on any statements issued after your last November payment, this would be easy for us to figure out.
Another thing you want to check is whether you kicked in interest. Had you been paying in full previously, you'll want to make sure that your grace period is reset. People end up with 30-day lates because they forgot to check for trailing interest.

Trailing interest is included in the next minimum payment, correct? Not sure how that works if accrued interest is added to the next minimum payment or carried over. I thought I read it is added to minimum payment.
