Free FICO scores from Credit Unions

I've read that some CU's give free FICO scores with their credit cards similarilly to how WaMu gives their 'PFICO' score.

WaMu's PFICO is a TU and it's my understanding that most Credit Unions use Experian pretty much exclusively, so I'd assume their version of a PFICO is Exerian.

Can anyone confirm/deny this? I've been interested in getting a fourth and final card but have seen no need for it... but if the FICO scores being provided by CU's are real Experian scores then that might be worth it for me... already get a free TU score from WaMu, get my EQ from ScoreWatch, getting a free EX from a CU would be the icing on the cake. I don't care that it's probably going to be a 1-month old score since I only need the absolute most up-to-the-minute FICO score if I'm going to buy a car, a house, or get a CC... and I don't do any of those on a regular basis.... I can afford to buy all 3 scores on this website when the need arises Smiley Happy

Re: Free FICO scores from Credit Unions

I don't know that that many CU's (or anyone else) give free FICO's.

The most recent (and entertaining) thread was about a CU in Pennsylvania that is supplying a classic (not a PFICO/ credit-card enhanced) EX FICO score. I'm hoping it's the first of many, but this certainly isn't common yet.

I don't know if that particular CU pulled EX or EQ or TU. It might seem logical that they were EX all the way, but on the other hand, it could be that there is currently a heckuva deal offered by EX to banks and CU's to do this, and it was a deal that couldn't be passed up.

And I agree with so_confused: most CU's do preferentially pull EQ. Patelco in California pulls EX, and I * think * that CCCU (Christian Community Credit Union) pulls EX, but I wouldn't swear to it. Haven't seen many posts about them recently. - HTH
* Credit is a wonderful servant, but a terrible master. * Who's the boss --you or your credit?
FICO's: EQ 781 - TU 793 - EX 779 (from PSECU) - Done credit hunting; having fun with credit gardening. - EQ 590 on 5/14/2007

Re: Free FICO scores from Credit Unions

I will confirm CCCU did pull EX on me. But most lean to EQ.

You are correct. I am a member of a state chartered CU (PA State Employees CU) They just started this

free FICO feature and they pull EX exclusively. Cheers!Smiley Happy
