Friends "Verve" card had all fees reversed??

So my friend has the Verve card and he just got it about a month ago. 

He didnt have money to pay his yearly fee($125, or the minimum) so he missed the payment deadline of Nov 23rd. 

Yesterday the balance was $150 or so because of the $25 late fee. 

Didnt spend anything on the card either. 

Today I log into his account to see if he had used it any or paid it like I told him, he had not, but I saw this: 

11/26/14	11/26/14	ANNUAL FEE REFUND NEWARK DE	$-125.00
11/26/14	11/26/14	REFUND OF LATE FEES	$-25.00
11/26/14	11/26/14	DEBT PROTECT RVRSL (CRDT)NEWARK DE	$-1.23

Aval credit $500/$500 

This is crazy, he did nothing and paid nothing yet literally everything on the card got refunded to him? 

Anyone know whats going on? He is very thankful at the moment.. haha

Exactly what a buried post on a review for the card said. 

Just weird that it lets you log in likes nothings wrong. I'll have him charge like a dollar to itunes and see if the cards active.

Exactly what a buried post on a review for the card said. 

Just weird that it lets you log in likes nothings wrong. I'll have him charge like a dollar to itunes and see if the cards active.

They'll just charge the fee again.

I'd call them up and tell them to put that card where the sun doesn't go often.

Just wanted to update the thread in case someone else searches for this one day. 

Yes, they did cancel his card. I guess they figured it was better to cancel the card rather than try to collect on the fees.
