Well, I will have to say that these cards with GE get paid off every single month and so do all my other cards, I hit that little LOVE button today after 4 months and they refused my credit line increase, I have not had a late payment but did file bankruptcy in 12/2011. Being the combined income is near 95K per year these folks at GE have truly lost my business, I guess they truly hate the aspect being my bill keeps getting paid in full in month. They can truly kiss my rear end and leave the rest where the sun does not shine. Not trying to be too harsh but I am beginning to look at them as a nemesis and a true uninspiring force in moving forward with credit after all business is business and inspired good payment history does not count!!
Okay...I think I may have solved the issue with GE.
I opened a Walmart card a year ago. CL was $500.
I used the heck out of it and paid in full BEFORE the statement cut. It would always report a $0 balance. Called for a CLI after the fourth statement and was denied because I didn't have enough history with the current credit line.
So this is what I did:
Still used the heck out of the card.
3 or 4 days before the statement cut I would pay the balance down to about $30 and let them report a $30 balance.
After my 6 statements in total, called for a CLI and was bumped to $700.
After the 9th statements in total they upgraded me to a Walmart/Discover with a CL of $3500 without me even asking!
I think the secret to GE is that you need to let a small balance report each month but use the card heavily.

This is so true of Walmart accounts ........you must leave a balance to have them report history I had to wait an extra month before I asked for a CLI because I didn't leave a balance one month and they didn't report to CB's

GE does love usage. I went from $250 to $750 on my JCP. I actually got the balance up to around 50% of the original limit and then just made minimum payments for a while. I definitely haven't come close to using up my current limit, so I'm not sure I'll get another 3x CLI...but I do think JCP will be my first 4-digit limit in a long time, when I do my next CLI after my next statement.
does GE rely more heavily on utilization from their issued cards or other cards on your report as well?
I feel like this thread is about me! I was approved for JCP and Wamart cards a year ago last month. The JCP limit is $200. and Walmart started at $600. then they bumped it to $700. after 3-4 months. I've requested increases on those cards twice and both times receoved the "not sufficient experience at current limit" responses. I've run the cards close the limit at times, had low balances and had middle balances. I've paid in full after the statement cut and I've carried a balance for a few months. Nothing. Now, I'm going to try it a different way. I'm working on getting my total utilization down to under 9% to get my scores to the best point that they can be right now. That will happen by the end of the month. I'll try after after that. I'll try the love buttons first and if they don't work I'll be making a very confident call to them to find out why more limits are so low. I feel like they have me on a "do not increase list".
btw- I had a BK discharged in 2/2010. All payments on time after that, 1.9% auto loan refi in May of this year and my other limits keep going up. It's time for GE to do that same.
I was approved for $600 initially. After about 4 months it was bumped up to $1200 without even asking. When I requested an increase online it went to $2500. After not using it for a few months it dropped to $2300. Not sure if it matters, but I was using up to 70% then PIF every month. Although was unaware they would drop the CL from non-use.
I have 4 GE accounts. Walmart Discover, JCP, Lowes, and Dillards Amex.
JCP for 16 months, started at 250, auto cli to 1750 after 4 months, then auto cli to 3250 after another 4 months. no usage for 12 months
Walmart Discover for 6 months, started at 1000, auto cli to 1800 after 4 months, called UW and they raised to 10000, always PIF 0 bal, very little usage
Lowes for 2 months, started at 3000, called UW and they raised to 10000, always pif, very little usage
Dillards Amex 1 month, started at 2000, called UW and they raised to 5000
My experiences have been good so far, they will auto cli you if you use it. never carried a balance and still got the auto cli's. If not satisfied, call UW, and ask them for more. Always been sp'ed.
