Afternoon all,
I've had my JCP account since March 2009. Started with a lovely $300 CL. About 6 months after opening it was bumped to $600. And there it's stayed. No more auto increases and the last 3 times I've hit the "Luv Button" I get a big fat no. I do not get it. Just got approved for a NFCU cc with $15k limit, Dell auto CLI'd my account from $4500 to $5000. Juniper Barclays CLI'd from $2500 to $3500. My Firestone/CFNA account went from $1200 to $2200 in the last 3 months. My UTIL has never been lower and my scores are higher than when I got the JCP card. I use the card frequently (Platinum status even!) and PIF every month. Depending on when I make my payment, sometimes I get a bill in the mail, sometimes I don't. Everyone loves the love from GEMB. Where's my love???
Is paying the account to early so that I end up not generating a statement hurting my CLI requests? I hear every 4 statements CLI's are available. Could this be the reason I'm getting no love? My denial letter says info obtained from TU (which is my highest score) and that my balances are to close to the limits. Not one card I have has more than 35% UTIL on it and my total UTIL is 24-25%. Another reason is not enough time has passed since my last increase. I've called for recons and the rep tells me the same reasons. Ugh! As much as I use that card I think I deserve a little love.
Haha. I guess I vented to soon. Just took the plunge and hit the luv button again (been a month since last attempt). Went from $600 to $1800. Why thank you. I did let small balance report on my account this last month. I mean small. $5.00. So who knows. YMMV definitely applies.
One thing I've learned with GEMB is they love seeing a balance report, whether it be a small or large one. Congrats on your increase.
Thanks! But per Iseangel's post now it sounds like I'll be stuck at this limit for another 2 years. lol
I'm going to have to test out the balance theory. Buy something every month and let a small balance report and try for CLI every few months.
I believe GEMB considers user generated CLI requests every 90 or 120 days. Anything sooner and you'll get a message stating you haven't had your current CL for a long enough time.
Historically, GEMB will look at CLI requests after every fourth statement hits. I haven't had to let a balance report to keep them happy, but I do try to use them.
My GEMB Dillard's just did a four month CLI upon request, and I haven't used or reported a balance on them for six months (they're something of a drive - I'll get there this month for some socks).
JCPenney did the same - always a CLI after four statements and did not have to let a balance report for them, either. But I did use them every few months for sure.
I had a $500 limit for a year and hit the cli button and just got approved for $1800. i am so excited! My scores are around 670.
I've been stuck at $2450 CL for at least 2 years.
