GM BuyPower Card

I was trying to increase my available credit October 2015 and decided to apply for the BuyPower card when I received the pre-qualified offer. They gave me a $500 SL with 0% intro APR. They sent me a message a bit ago saying they are inviting me to apply for a CLI. Does anyone know if this is a SP or HP? I don't want to waste the inquiry if it's a HP. I've always paid it on time and right now the card is at 72% utilization. Will be a little less than 50% once the payment I just made posts. I hear a lot of people saying they were having trouble getting CLIs and with my high overall utilization I wouldn't be surprised if I was denied.

What exactly did the message say? Hubby and I both have this card and we got the standard credit steps email.

Re: GM BuyPower Card

I was approved for this card yesterday, $500 limit at 0% for 12 months. I checked out the luv button and it stated they need to look at my credit report to process the request, so I didn't go through with it. Sounds like a HP.

I know my Kohls card from Cap One is a HP for a CLI.

And I don't think the BuyPower card is enrolled in credit steps. At least mine isn't.

Re: GM BuyPower Card

The Cap-1 GM BuyPower Card is a Hard Pull - I've gone from $5000 >> $7500 >> $10,000 >> $11,000 >> $12,500 on this card in just over 3 years.

Far from my largest CL, but my only Cap-1 backed card .... that is until Cabella's (currently $15k CL, which also requires a HP if self requested) converts in 2017 and the jury is out on whether I'll keep open another (second) Cap-1 backed card when that happens.

I didn't realize it was a World Elite Mastercard either until I was approved. Cool. Smiley Happy

Re: GM BuyPower Card

I got this pre qualified letter in the mail, and I have been rebuilding for quite some time. I currently have 2 cap one cards. One is $500 and the other is $1800. I'm sitting around a 608 on eq, which is normally what they pull. To my surprise, I was approved for $500!  Funny thing is I sell cars for Toyota, and would never use this for purchasing a vehicle. It was just nice to get another approval to help with rebuilding!

Re: GM BuyPower Card

GM - always a hard pull when initiated by the consumer. The sometimes do credit steps and rarely give CLI without request from what I've read. My credit steps are coming up in a month. Hoping for more than what I got on my Quicksilver.
