How odd! When I was approved for my Discover card my score was in the low/mid 600's and I had a $5k collection that was about three years old. They did leave me a message and asked me to call them about my account, and I had to explain the collection, but after they cleared it I did get an approval and then a pretty quick CLI. Just goes to show you how many factors go into an approval.
