GW letter success? Sort of?

Hi all,

About a week ago, I mailed out a GW letter to BofA, explaining that I had a couple of 30-day lates two years ago for temporary financial hardship. They are my #1 card, and I told them of my otherwise clean history with them for 8 years.

Today, I checked my credit reports/scores, and it seems that any trace of those lates were removed ... but from my Equifax only.

Could this be an oversight by the BofA staff? Or maybe it wasn't removed at all, and Equifax just doesn't show it now for some reason?

I was thinking of calling a service rep, explaining that I'm thankful that it came off from my Equifax report, but that I would appreciate it if they took it off my TU and EX too.

Any advice on how to proceed?

Re: GW letter success? Sort of?

Here are the options I'm weighing:

- Wait for a few days or more to see if the other CRAs follow suit. Maybe they're just slower than Equifax.

- Call BofA to see what's up. Ask them if they can take it off the other two CRAs, too (the thing I'm worried about is maybe they'll tell me, "That's weird, I wonder why it's not showing up on EQ," and then add it back).

- Write another GW letter eventually, explaining that I would like it removed from the other two CRAs, also.

Wow, no one, eh? =) I guess I'm going to wait a week and see what happens.

Re: GW letter success? Sort of?

I would wait a week or two and see. I had a similar situation with a GW letter and Citi. Wait, see what happens, and let us know!

Re: GW letter success? Sort of?

It's entirely possible the other two CRA's haven't updated yet.

On 7/19 I pulled my reports. 1 report had my citi card with the July 2008 statement balance, it closed on 7/18. The other two still had my June 2008 statement balance and hadn't updated yet.

If I were you I would wait a 3-4 weeks and then check again.

Re: GW letter success? Sort of?

It seems that they did what you asked.

I bet this time next month they will all be fixed.

Re: GW letter success? Sort of?

So, BofA wouldn't just remove it from one CRA, right?

I guess I have to just be patient and keep tabs on it. It's hard to wait, though ... I have this mentality now, with my credit, that I always have to be doing something to improve it! =P
