Has anyone on this board ever reached diamond spade?
MarineVietVet was 5 years app free before he applied for his new home loan.
It can be done! Congrats to Cageym for being the newest member of the 800 club! Way to go!
Seems like you got it figured out! Welcome to the garden club!!! Good job with Amex, that's a very nice seedlings!

Now I'm holding off until at least 4/12 for most likely a hard pull CLI. Then again, it's hard to say no to all those fancy sign-up bonuses and new credit.
Now to figure out how to get that image into my siggy...

@flyingpenguin wrote:Just got my US Bank Cash+ in the mail this week, and I'm in the garden now. I now have 3 cards - BofA Platinum Plus ($1700), Citi Forward ($5500), and US Bank Cash+ ($11,000). Getting the BofA PC'd to a version with rewards. I'll now get 5% back on Amazon, restaurants, flights, and hotels, and 2% on groceries and drugstores.
No plans for any more at this point. 3 is a good number for me. The only thing is I wish I could increase the limit on the BofA card without a HP. But I'll probably only put groceries on it anyway.
The US Bank letter said the factor affecting my credit score the most is "Length of time accounts have been established", which makes sense. My oldest account is only 5.5 years old and my average is somewhere around 3, I think. Only time is going to improve that. But hanging around these forums might be dangerous - I'm likely to get tempted by something or other
Congrats on your success! An AmEx card would help you in the long run with its backdating.
Thanks! I don't have a relationship with Amex currently. Been kicking around the idea of asking my mom to add my as AU to hers, to lock in a 2012 member date. But I don't really like the idea of a tradeline on my credit reports that I can't control... She always PIF, but I wouldn't be able to control the util...

Another reason to stay in the garden for a bit. I went to download my TU score from MyFico today and i saw it! Dead on 800 as of today! 800 is my new favorite number! Now lets see how long it lasts, I have one more card that needs to start reporting but I'm done asking for anything until May or so.
Congrats on reaching 800! That's a significant milestone.
Well this has been one heck of a year for me financially. Filed bk7 in 3/12, discharged in 7/12. Have since been able to secure an account with first premier (300) and merrick bank (600 doubles after 6mos) both unsecured. Went on an app spree after reading some of the posts here and that was not the thing to do. Need time for hps to come off reports. Gotta settle down and let my cards age a bit. Apped to get into NFCU and was approved. Rewards card still pending, but it's off to the garden to let my seeds grow regardless of decision from them!! Will see you guys around this same time next year with an update. Will update on score increases and check the boards for new info. My goal is to be in the 700s by 2014!!!
last app 12/7/12
Good luck! I'm gardening until 7/2013 too!
New to the forum, but based on my last year it is not difficult for me to ascertain I should begin a phase of gardening. Brief history:
-ruined my credit after a fairly strong start, things started getting bad 2002-2003
-by 2005 I couldn't finance a popsicle stick
-remarried and began new career 2007
-2012 back in the 700's (low) with 5 CC accts, 2 car loans, 1 mtg (+4 CC accts of my wife's I am AU on)
Now I find myself enjoying having available credit and the temptation to apply for more is a constant. I would like to reach 750+ on all 3 bureaus by mid 2013 and realize a commitment to garden is a must.
Last HP 11/2012, last new acct 11/2012, goal to garden thru 5/2012 before app'ing for a Citi MC
Hello, all!
I'd like to extend a warm welcome to all of our new gardeners, as well as a round of congratulations to those who have reached milestones. Few things are as satisfying as accomplishing a set goal. Keep up the good work!
I'm also letting everyone know that I'm going on vacation -- partially paid for with credit card rewards!!! -- and will be away from the forums for a few days. I'll be back online on or around the 16th. Webhopper has graciously agreed to take charge of the clubhouse keys and will be overseeing the hospitality on this thread. Please continue to enjoy the snacks, drinks and fellowship. Happy gardening!
