I drove the 640 and 650. The 650 was better but I think its me..I felt like I was all over the place.
I'm surprised Longo wasn't willing to budge; they are usually pretty good at trying to keep a saleSo in your situation leasing is better then buying? I got burned on a lease 20 years ago and never have even thought of leasing again, just bought what i wanted and made it last 10 plus years... but I am learning new ways of thinking about things. I hope they can get you where you want to be for the deal!
It really depends on the car you're trying to get.
Some cars models have better pricing in terms of lease, so it's more worthwhile to lease than to finance. The downside of leasing is that you cannot modify the car and you're limited in terms of how many miles you can put on it. A big advantage of leasing is that if you end up crashing the car, you're not responsible for the depreciation in value of the car since there's gap insurance, whereas if you own the car, you'll take the hit instead.
Personally from what I've seen, it makes little to no sense to lease Mercedes unless they're doing really aggressive promotions. The lease payment is usually slightly lower each month than what it would cost to finance (though the loan is for 5 years as opposed to 3 year lease). But it makes no sense to lease if you can essentially own the car by paying just 100-300 more each month as opposed to a lease.
Some cars are more worthwhile to lease because you're essentially only paying for depreciation, and you still get to save on part of the the sales tax. It just depends on the car and manufacturer. Don't try to lease a car that just came out of the market though; wait at least 2-6 months.
