Good afternoon, Gardeners!
And now I'm officially checking in for the month. The month is off to an AMAZING start! My BK fell off EQ, so my score went up 64 points!
All green looks pretty!
As for a setback, I overextended myself on Sam's Club MC and I wasn't able to PIF by my due date. So I'll probably incur a bunch of interest. I may ask if they can waive the interest this month as a courtesy (sometimes they do that, just to be nice), but I won't hound anyone over it. It was my foible. In light of that, I am going to SD my beloved Sam's Club MC until I regain my grace period. But I'm sure Discover and QS won't mind the business this month. Or maybe I can dust off my Costco TE. We'll see.
So here's my outlined Gardening plan for the month:
1. Take corrective measures to regain grace period on Sam's Club MC. This means a temporary SD, paying it down quickly, and cutting back on my dining expenses. I eat out way too much. I've also adjusted the due date, to help plan better on this card.
2. SP CLIs. I'll keep checking Citi DC and Discover to see if they can break the $5K barrier.
3. SD cards to help get zero balances. In the SD currently are Amazon Store, Walmart Store, Sony Card, and Overstock. I may revive Costco TE for dining. Also, I may add Target to the SD, if my local store codes as grocery (then I can use Sallie Mae there for 5%).
4. Upgrades. I've reached out to the Cap One EO about getting WMC status on my QS. Hopefully, they can help.
And that's it! Happy Gardening!
Today starts Day 1 of the garden for me and I'm starting small by trying to make it to September 30th with no new applications.
Bwahahahahahahahaa!!! I was on the Garden thread, ready to post.... looking everywhere for a "reply" button and just not seeing one. Took me a good 30 seconds to realize "Duh! It's September, Dude!". *snort*
Anyhoo... credit news... Cap1 apparently heard me nagging my husband to call and try to PC his old Platinum MC to a Quicksilver. I didn't want to close it because it's our oldest card but with no rewards it just wasn't getting used.
Email this morning... "As a customer since August 21, 2012, you deserve a rewards upgrade. Get more from your card with an upgrade to Quicksilver® cash back or VentureOne® miles—unlimited rewards you can earn with every dollar spent."
Wheeee! It's now a QS, with the same rewards as our NFCU cashRewards, so we can each have our own "default" card.

Congrats! QS is a good default card to have. It's very easy to accumulate and redeem awards. AMEX could take a lesson from them.
Wow! 64 valuable FICO points recovered. Oh yes! Definitely a nice needed boost.
Good Job on that Sunrise and the recent card success.
I know how much that it means to get those numbers up after what seems like a long stall.
Yay, Sunrise! I'm waiting for the day my student loan falls off my EX. Soon.
Happy September Fellow GC Members!!!
I will pick up my beautiful Bronze Spade on the 10th and I'm GLAD about it! Stay FOCUSED and remember why you came to the Garden in the first place, YOU CAN DO IT!!!
Fantastic bump, Sunrise! Congrats!
@DantGwyrrd: Congratulations on your long, successful sojourn in the garden. You are a role model.
@Komp: Congratulations for making it thru the first two months. Keep on keeping in the Garden.
