It happens to all of us unfortunately.
Are you in Bank of the West's geofence btw? They have been known to do SP approvals (they pull EX) for their card.
I live in California so I'm assuming I would qualify

Well wait and see what NFCU has to say but if its a no, the BotW card has a similar structure (gas cash back is capped at $1500 instead of uncapped like Navy Federal).
I'll see what the letter says when I receive it

I'm sorry to hear that - and I get it. I was declined for the Citi Custom Cash on Saturday. I'm like you, I thought my profile was strong enough to be a pretty sure bet to get it, but you never know sometimes.

At least with NFCU its just a matter of time. That goes for most CUs really. Once they get to know you, they open up the doors.

Agreed! Don't get discouraged by this with Navy. They'll end up taking good care of you with a little time. If you can, it wouldn't be a bad idea to park some cash in the savings account, and if you are like me, you'll start getting preapproved offers pretty quickly.

@Roadgeek395 If you're near Sacramento or the Bay Area, you might want to consider joining Safe Credit Union and going for the Cash Rewards card after a month of membership is established.
3% gas, groceries, dining, AND a 5% selectable rotating category.

Wow that sounds like a great card, unfortunately I don't live anywhere near those areas
