Yeah I just got this too! Too bad I live in the city and have no need for a car so can't even take advantage of this offer
I got it too! Will this be more worthwhile than getting 3% on gas?

It depends on the price of gas. If it is $2.50 a gallon, 5 cents per gallon is an extra 2%. Thing is, if you sign up for a Fuel Rewards account, once you get the Chase Gold Status on the account, you can use any card you want to pay and still get the Fuel Reward credit. It just ties to your phone number and you enter it at the pump.
You don't have to have a Chase card to get the $.05 off. Just sign up at fuelrewards.com and you'll get the same Gold status
As some else said there are better fuel rewards out there. Based on $2.50 gas Amex BCP 7.5cents per gal, Disco sometimes 5% 12.5 cents,
Chase Feedom (i think) sometimes 5% 12.5 cents , FNBO Murphy 5 cents at Murphy, US Bank cash plus gas can be a 2%
FNBO Murphy card does sometimes has promo for as much as 25 cents for the quarter/

Not comparing apples vs apples. The Fuel Rewards program is independent of credit cards and you can get the $.05 off via Fuel Rewards and still use the cards that you mention. Chase is just marketing the program as a way to get you to use their cards when the program has nothing to do with Chase or any other credit card.

That's interesting. Shell is very high here along with Marathon. Five cents would not help
