Good to know - I wonder if the 2,000 dollars pertains specifically to your account, or that is there rule in general.

Interesting. They do seem a little less generous with their limits: my Chase and Citi both have limits over $20K but my Discover is a little over $10K. Note that I've never requested an increase from anybody, I've had all my cards for over 10 years and their automatic credit limit increases have been more than sufficient for anything I've ever wanted to spend.
Interesting. My Discover started at 1.1k in Feb 08. In Sept 08 I asked for a CLI (with a hard pull) and asked for and got 3.5k. Around Feb 09 I asked for a CLI and got a 1k (soft pull) to 4.5k.
My point? Once upon a time they did increases greater than 2k.
