So its official, this card annual fee is $550 starting in april plus $75 ($625/yr) for my wife to be an AU!
The $300 travel credit is great, but rest of the benefits are just ok. I dont use grubhub of lyft, so those new benefits are nearly worthless for me.
Truth is my Amex Gold offers better points (4x restaurants/groceries - my top 2 budget items), and 3x on flights. Plus the amex AF is only $30 after betting out the $100 airline credit and free lunch at Cheesecake Factory every month!
Bye bye CSR!
Sounds like its the right call for you. People should be careful with the doordash deal when they do their calculations. Not only is doordash limited to specific restaurants, has been mentioned in the past some restaurants markup their menu prices on online delivery websites. You may be paying more for your food than if you ordered it at the restaurant yourself to go, so its worth checking your favorite restaurants to see if the items are marked up and factoring that in to your valuations when deciding if the AF is worth it. Same goes for grubhub with amex. OP is going directly to cheesecake factory but others of us may use that credit on deliveries so we need to be careful.
For a while I got kind of lazy using delivery services with credit card perks/subsidies. It was nice to stack Postmates Unlimited from Savor with the $5 off WEMC perk. I was getting food delivered for less than the in-restaurant price even after tipping the driver.
But it's still a lot cheaper to go to Costco and buy things like chicken parts, vegetables, and canned beans...simple stuff that doesn't take much work to prepare. It's not hard to eat well while controlling the salt/sugar/fat...mostly organic, too, fwiw.
I'm just happy for you doing your own math. Everyone should. Conclusions may differ, but chase needs to realize it cannot rely on fooling customers.
CNBC anchors were talking about ditching CSR due to this on air today.
The primary rental car insurance is great. Other than that, mehhh
