Re: HSBC/Orchard Bank CLI

bridget,

i have had my Orchard Bank CC for about 14 months...started out with a CL $300, now $1500...every 3-4 months i call them and, tell them I want to cancel the card.  CSR usually reply "we are sorry to hear you want to cancel" i tell them that the credit line is too low and i have other cards with much higher limits, "please cancel" the card......

usually by this time they ask well let me transfer you to a "account specialist", and the AS gets on the line says something like "i understand you want to close the account, we are very sorry" i again tell them how LOW the CL is compared to my other cards..almost always they respond with an offer to increase the CL between $200-$400.  I have done this three times and has worked..

its too bad you have to tell them you will close the account for a silly $300 CLI..

hope this helps

Re: HSBC/Orchard Bank CLI

I gave up on HSBC months ago and closed both accounts-

Yes- threaten to cancel with an account specialist seems to be the only way to get a CLI-

I did get my APR (I pif anyways) WAAAAAYYY down to 10.X % prior to closing though-

Re: HSBC/Orchard Bank CLI

Maybe once my other cc CLs increase, I’ll call orchard and threaten to cancel.  I couldn’t make that threat today b/c unfortunately, after fee gouger first premier, orchard is my oldest *good* tradeline.  The rep did say ‘we’re always reviewing accts- who knows, maybe soon after this call, you’ll hop online and see your CLs have increased automatically.’  She was probably blowing smoke up my …, but maybe my call will inspire a CLI sometime before I hit the 2 yr mark. you would've thought they could've @ least given me a $100 CLI today LOL ah subprimes, how i loathe thee but sadly need thee for now.

Re: HSBC/Orchard Bank CLI

reformer,

you dont actualy have to cancel,  you can go through the steps and tell them you would like to cancel, then if you see they are not going to authorize CLI, tell them something like "well i never actually cancelled a card before, let me think about it"  keep the account for now...

they will be happy you kept the account, and no harm done!

Re: HSBC/Orchard Bank CLI

I have to agree with MYMY. The  only way I was able to get an CLI with out a hard pull was to state that I wanted to cancel my card. But the only gave me 100 CLI.  Better then nothing.

Re: HSBC/Orchard Bank CLI

I got a auto CL and I have no idea how.  I got my Orchard card about 1yr ago and pif every time I had a balance.  I let the statement come and then pif, so I haven't paid any intrest.  But I started with $500 CL and I went to pay my bill online about a month ago and found that my balance was $700.  I have no idea what made them increase it and I didn't ask for it.  Sorry I can't be of any help, just wanted to let you know cli happens with orchard.

I'm confused.  So you went over the limit by $200 and that made them give you a CLI?

Re: HSBC/Orchard Bank CLI

Sorry, I need to clarify.  I started out with a $500 cl and pif every month.  Never over limit.  I even charged up to $300 on the card at one point, but I always pif and never pay the interest.

I went online to pay my bill and found my cl was $700, they increased it without my asking.  I have no clue on what made them do it.

Ah, I see.  You said above that your balance was $700, not your CL.  That's an entirely different animal altogether.

Re: HSBC/Orchard Bank CLI

Today I called sears because they had not reported my account to any CRA. I asked them why is this? The CSR says he has no ideal why its not on there he verified that they had the correct info, which they did! He then says I see that you always pay ontime and never late, so I say well is it possible for me to get a CLI, he tells me what do I want to be increased too? I say I am not greedy at this point just $100- $200 increase! He say I am sorry at this time we cannot increase you at this time, and we will send you a letter in a couple days as ro why! Now why would he mess with my emotions like that(LOL) Do anyone have a backdoor number on them? (Even though CS would not give CLI sears CS was wonderful, and very polite).
