When I logged in to my Nerdwallet account today, I saw a new app called SIFT. Apperantly it works by reading your emailed recepits, and automatically following price changes and somehow contacting the bank to refund you the difference back to your credit card. I am wondering if actually works as advertised? In the FAQ section, they say that it works with most major banks. They also mention that they are working on to enable same system for walk-in purchases with paper receipts.
I'm pretty sure this is why Citi has announced they would be shrinking their Price Rewind benefit and Chase is about to get rid of their price protection altogether.
I just read the FAQ. You have to give them access to your email. No thanks.
However, anyone who shops at Amazon needs to look at their bit explaining price protection. This is exactly why I haven't bothered with the Chase Amazon Visa. Price protection is a very useful benefit when buying from Amazon, or really any retail purchases.

Thank you a ton for this information. I downloaded the app and I think it will be very useful for me.
After a little bit of research, I realized there are two more companies (Earny and Paribus) doing this automated price tracking/refunding. As a curious person, I decided to give them all a chance and see how they work. While Earny and SIFT are able to utilize credit card price protections, Paribus is only utilizing benefits from the places where items was bought from.
Currently they show most of my purchases in their dashboards and tracking for possible future price drops.

I have had all 3 of these apps for about 6 months and never once has any of them found me any savings
