I got my card in 2013 so my initial purchase 0% is long gone. I had done a few BT's over the years. I called about lowering my APR at some point late last year and was offered 'a retention offer' to either lower it permanently a percent or two (can't remember) or 0% for a year. I snapped up the later. I never carry a balance over 0%, I was just bored while gardening. It then coincided with the Apple Pay promotion AND I got in on the double cash back for existing card members the first day it was offered before they shut that down.
I had got a second 0% purchase promo APR after the end of 2 years of my card, that one also got over about 1 month ago.
When I inquired about another promo a couple of months ago, they asked me to check back once my then current 2nd promo ran out. I don't need one right now so haven't called yet.
It's at their discretion, sometimes they offer a new 0% promo or a permanent reduction; I picked the 0%.
My new card promo 0% was for 15 months.
Yes, Discover offers additional 0% interest on purchases promos after the original one runs out. No permanently lowering your APR does not prevent you from getting future promo offers. In another 6 months your account should be eligible for another APR reduction, maybe at that time they will have an offer for you. Good luck!
After my 0% ran out I called asking for APR reduction and got a reduction of a point or two or 0% for 12 months. I took the perm reduction. 5-6 months later I called again and no dice on perm reduction but was offered 3.9% for 12 months which of course I accepted.
My IT card reached 1 year last month, through chat I asked for an APR reduction and was offered 0 percent interest for 12 months or around 3-4 percent permanent reduction in APR. I chose the 0 percent for 12 months and was told that after 6 months I can contact them again about having the APR reduced permanently.
I think my 0% promo ends in July. I plan on trying to get either 0% or reduced at that time. I hope it works. I tried to get cap one to waive the AF on my QS1 today and no luck, so maybe I will do better with Discover in July.
no dice on having another 0% promo purchase apr on mine (expired 18th, after 1st yr). i asked thru chat. they did lower my apr by 3%. 15.24% to 12.24%. she said there was no 0% promo available right now. pffftt! oh well. i guess i'm definitely rooting for my blispay app to move up from purgatory.
