I closed on my mortgage yesterday and took ownership of my house. I then applied this morning for a Home Depot Credit Card and was approved for a CL of $500. I then called the backdoor number and requested a CLI so I could purchase a refridgerator for my home. After verifying my information the lady told me I would either need to wait for my card to arrive to give the 3 digit code on the back or go in to a Home Depot to show my photo ID and request a CLI this way. So I plan to go to Home Depot after work tonight and see if I can get a CLI for enough to purchase a refridgerator and a grill so about $1500 has anyone had sucecss with a CLI from Home Depot this way?
I don't know about going in to the store and getting an increase but when I got my approval this year, they started me out at 1k and I called the backdoor number and told them I really needed 3k and they increased my limit with no problem. So maybe you want to try and speak with someone else. I have had to call 2-3 times with companies in the past to get difference csr's to give me what I wanted. I leanred here to not take no for an answer on the first couple of tries....lol
I actually did the opposite but had success.
A couple of days after closing on our home, I went into the store and applied. I was instantly approved for $1500. Immediately after leaving the store, I called the backdoor number and requested that the limit be raised to $3000 and after being placed on hold, the rep came back and approved it.
I would try calling again and see what the next rep says. Good Luck!
i agree! Call again
Well I called again and was declined the CLI . Any other suggestions I might do to get approved?
What's your utilization rate? AAoA? Did you explain you just closed on a mortgage and wanted to buy some appliances?

Utilization rate is 8%. AAoA is 7 years 4 months. I did explain that to the CSR and she said unfortunatley I wasn't approved.
DH was approved in July with 2,000 originally. We called within a couple of days and explained that we were trying to buy carpet and that would not cover the purchase - they immediately bumped him up to $5,500. That approach was based on this site and the number of people with the same success.
With your info, it is strange they are not budging.
I have never heard of home depot not increasing! Might be worth the trip to store, if still no, tell them lowes will handle it, they recon cl's even better!!
Creditaddict took the words right out of my mouth. Go in store and try there once you pick out what you want. If they don't do it, tell them that you are sure Lowes will approve you for the amount and you will take your business there...
