I have 13, with a Dell account that isn't technically a credit card, but I can use it like one.

How many are in your wallet, or drawer, or purse or whatever?

Amex Blue (1-2 charges a month)

Chase Plat Visa (hardly use)

CITI Dividends MC (2-3 charges a month)

First Hawaiian Bank Gold Visa (hardly use)

FIA Fidelity Plat Visa (2-3 charges a month)

Macy's (use once every 3-4 months online)

All 3-4% util except Macy's.

Lots of cards, especially for a young person still attending college, but hey I handle them responsibly so I see no problem ;p

I have in mind a fifth card, hopefully a Visa card with a good credit union to round out my collection. Any more than five and I think I'd go crazy trying to keep track of which cards to rotate in and out to keep them active in the FICO model.

Okay, I had to actually get my wallet and count them:

4 MC/V, 3 store, 2 gas - closing 1 MC next month, another in Jul, - obtaining 1 in Sept 09 and closing another. So that will give me 2 MC/V next Sep

4 of the 5 store & gas can be upgraded to MC/V -- the last I will keep for age and use it sparingly.

I feel like I am out of re-building and actually into building now.
