Re: How do I get a decent CC for work?

When I applied to Chase the first go round, I had a 614 score. However, I have heard that they are harder to get into. I have found if you call that helps.

When I applied to Wamu, my TU was 589, however, they pulled EX and I do not know what that score was, I think higher as it has no CO's on it.

CITI, and Chase pulled TU for me in NV.

All my major cards pulled EX. Which seems to be your lowest score, so you definitely should look to app with one that pulls TU.

Then in my opinion call them. For example I talked to Chase, told them about my situation and sure enough they gave me credit, and have continued to do so.

I don't know if either of these has a pre-approval link.

gday............not having read all the replies to your thread, I don't know if someone has suggested you try a credit union. That would be my first option.

Great minds thinking alike!

gday, are you still in the same town as your college, and if so, does it have a credit union? Alternatively, does your company sponsor one, or are there any in your area? Most local CU's pull EQ, and while yours isn't stellar (yet), you ought to at least be able to get a secured card.

What are the exact dates (well, months) of your 2007 lates, and how bad was each (30, 60, 90, etc.) Lates are my only baddies, and they're pretty discouraging when they hit, but they do start to fade. However, if they're on multiple accounts, they do even more damage.

It would be worth GW'ing these lates, especially if you have any 60-day and aboves, and see if some of your creditors will be willing to stop reporting them. "Recency" (how recently something occurred) is even more damaging than severity when it comes to baddies.

Re: How do I get a decent CC for work?

For the Diner's Club corporate card where I work, I was told that they'll basically only reject people who have have a previous Diner's Club card that was charged off.

Where I work, anyway, Diner's Clue does check your credit (but not a hard pull), and almost everyone is approved. Applying for a personal card is another matter, of course.

I applied for the corporate card and got it within a week, no problem. I think you may be OK with that.

On the minus side, however, that corporate card won't report to your CR, so you won't get any benefits from handling it responsibly.
