How do you request a certain limit?

My TU and Eq scores are now 650 and 665, but they'll be 670 and 680 soon. Here is my question: I see people with 650-670 scores getting 3 or 4000 limit credit cards, yet I only qulaified for about 1000. What gives?

Well, that goes with the saying you gotta have credit to get credit. We were stuck around 1500 limits until navy fed gave us a 12k limit then the rest has gone up and up from there. I would try a relationship with whom ever you bank, chase, citi, or local cu. If you only have history with 1000 limits you might have to build off what you got. Do you carry high balances? late payments? length of history with CC? ask for a CLI

I have a bk from 2008. I guess it isn't just based on score. What was your score to get 12k? That's a credit card? Do you just apply and take what you quialify for, or do you ask for that amount?

Navy fed is just great about giving good limits. I had applied and gotten a 22k limit, I didn't ask for that much

Yes I can't say enough good things about Credit Unions I mean you probably think they were paying me as a spokes person but really there the best all around once you have them on your side there a lifetime friend for all types of loans!  It's something good for the family too so get your kids enrolled as soon as they are eligible.

Credit scores are not correlated to credit limits. It has more to do with your existing limits and income/dti ratio. Think of it this way. You can have 809 credit score with 1k limits. Obviously you know how to manage 1k limits. But does that mean you can handle 20k limits
