I opened an AmEx Blue 10/09 (member since 88) started with $2,000 cl, increased to $ 6,000 4/10, increased to $12,000 10/10. Current util <3% on $180,250 revolving, AAoA 6.8y, 22.8y history, EQ 735, TU 763, EX ? (used to be close to TU), no EX inquiries last 12m, personal income $118,000, $145,000 HHI. I also have a green card and have run around $25,000 through the two cards the last 18 months (always PIF before the statements cut).
Six months have passed since my last request. How far should I push my luck with cli?
$25k is the limit on automated decisions, so I'd just try that. It couldn't hurt.

I was also going to say 25k
That's more than I was thinking (or more than I have the nerve to ask for). I would like to avoid FR. Nothing to hide, just like my privacy. Was thinking $18,000. But who knows, maybe after a few shots I could get the nerve up to ask for more . My largest current line is $30,000 with PenFed.
If I was you I would go for a $50K limit. They will probably only increase by 300% your current limit but so be it.
You have a long history and a good salary...go for it. Sure you will get the old FR but so what? No big deal if you are telling them the truth.
I think you guys are too afraid of the "dreaded AMEX FR." I think it's been blown out of proportion, but I could be wrong. I also think its more toward those new to credit or with iffy credit pasts.
I've been curious about this too. I know the general rule is 3x your current limit, but asking for could raise an eyebrow or two. Also, do they ever auto CLI or is it most times customer generated?
I have never witnessed an AMEX auto CLI with my own eyes. I'd say it's rare, but I can't be sure, because I never use my Blue Cash, so they'd have no reason to CLI me.

I cold apped for the Blue in February and was instantly approved with a 10K limit so I don't really want to push my luck with them. I don't need anything else in terms of credit. I'm in the advanced gardening phase and I'd like to grow my existing limits. If they would initiate, great.
