I believe you had to have been active duty . Vets can join now but they only give partial membership. I do have a member number but i cant apply for cc or probably anything else. I just forget i even have it. Mskes no sense to give it if you can apply for credit or financial products

Agreed. Membership should be open to all Vets. Isn't that part of their historical mission? To serve those who served?

That is strange that they've denied you for a CC with those scores and a clean profile. There is something in their algorithms that is causing this, but can't imagine what it is.
Their insurance rates can be higher than others, but they are generally regarded as one of the best out there as far as customer satisfaction and claims.
Their CC aren't really anything special, except for the Limitless, which was open for apps a few years ago and they only opened it by a few states at a time. It never made it to all of them (not mine 😭) before they closed it to new apps. It was a straight 2.5% cashback Visa with no FTF if you had direct deposit of $2k a month I think. What they have available now are kind of meh. IMO you aren't really missing out on anything, but can understand why your feelings are hurt a little 🤕

USAA is open to all vets. https://communities.usaa.com/t5/Money-Matters/USAA-Membership-Eligibility-for-Family-Members/ba-p/17...
Also, note that for credit cards USAA uses an older mortgage version of FICO, which for many of us is quite a bit lower than the FICO 8/9 we're used to discussing.
Membership is open to all honorably discharged vets. FYI

Lol, how many active members even think about joining them or else. I know when i served i was a total noob and knew nothing about Credit Unions or banks that might be worth getting for future. Its a shame really
They were everywhere my first ship went. There was even a branch in Gaeta. Or Naples. Somewhere in Italy🤔

I know right. It is just my OCD kicking in and my curiorisity. It feels like I am not squaring everything away after preparing everything according to the checklist before rolling out. After reading all this, I think I don't really missing anything from USAA. The insurance was good but not sure why recently they increased their rate and removed some discounts which I have to apply back. I am hoping tomorrow I can work something out with them to reduce it back to the original or at least they could tell me what's going on.
Plus they balance chase !!!!! I wouldn't even give them a thought if i were you . Plenty of other banks out there .
