Re: How to transform Visa to Visa Signature

I would speak to a specialist or supervisor over the phone. I believe some issuers have different number ranges for different levels of visa/MC so that might count as an account change.

The confusion over world/world elite is because all sapphires have only the silver logo. It was thought all regular world mastercards maintained the color logo and silver was reseved for the WEMC.

Would this be considered a full on PC? It seems unlikely as you would keep the same CC #. She seems to not be very helpful as she tells you to apply for another one, but then goes on to say you can't apply for the same card twice. I guess the best thing to do would be to wait 12 months... I may ask for a CLI first then an upgrade to the Visa Signature as I don't want them to be like: "One or the other"

I decided to just wait...  My card was opened in Feb, so I just have to wait a few more months.  In the meantime, NFCU upgraded me

webhopper,

What they told you is correct. It's a full PC.  The card number changes because they charge different rates for different categories of rewards (and non-rewards) cards. It's a way to flag you  as a potential big spender and hence justify higher merchant fees.

Re: How to transform Visa to Visa Signature

So this means that it is not possible to obtain the World Elite Mastercard for this specific card? That would suck as you get the equivalent if you opt for a Visa.

Wait for the Chase Freedom Visa Signature there are different rates for the rewards, apart from the ones entiled by having a signature card?

Yeah it is confusing but in order for a card to be World Elite it must say World Elite.

A World Elite version of this product doesn't exist and the true equiv of World Elite isn't even issued in the United States right now. Visa Signature and World MasterCard are considered the same tier.

lol the op did also ask about World Elite in the first post. No one knows the guidelines, people typically seem to qualify based on tenure and little spending but I managed to get upgraded within months of account opening based on spending.

Re: How to transform Visa to Visa Signature

This thread has good info. When I upgrade to signature will it report as a new account or do I get to keep the same open since date?

Same tradeline however your account number should change to the Signature prefix which I think is 4147. Nothing changes during a Chase product change on the report.

Re: How to transform Visa to Visa Signature

I would like to know about the cash back % categories on the Freedom Visa Signature vs the regular Freedom as well.

I actually just called to change to a Visa Signature this morning (right after I activated my Freedom), and was told nothing about a change in the cash back program, only that I would receive the extra benefits the Visa Signature offers.

Re: How to transform Visa to Visa Signature

Every Chase Freedom offer the same rotating categories, whether it is Platinum, World or Signature.
