Saw this over at DOC.
While it would be a stretch for the average consumer to reasonably max out the gas and grocery spend, if one were to do all three above, that's potentially $300 and 231,500 Membership Rewards on top of the usual credits for $21,500 spend! 😮
Wow! Awesome find. Thanks for sharing.
I may go for this and then downgrade to Gold after a year.
My only hesitation is that I'll likely be unable to use the $200 airline extras credit for 2020. Or do any airlines still have eligible GCs that get the credit?
*sobs* wow

Yeah, even if someone just puts their regular grocery and gas spend on it without playing RAT games, it's a pretty phenomenal deal.
With Delta, using the card to pay the remainder of an airfare purchase partially purchased with a gift card is still working to trigger the credit as it codes as fees rather than a ticket purchase. For other airlines, I would suggest looking at FlyerTalk for recent data points.
Thanks in advance for half the threads for November 2021..."Do I cancel after AF posts", with other half being "It made sense till the SUB, can't make it work, never meant to make it work, retention offer anyone???"
I'd imagine December 2021 will be "How long will I keep getting this stupid NO SUB FOR YOU" pop up.

I'll start pre-emptive mega thread!

I still have $70 of Delta 2020 extras on Schwab I was planning to trigger that way...and only that one possible flight before year end!
75k MRs is simple enough.
$300 in restaurant spend...more than makes up for not using a 2020 airfare extras credit. Adjust a little for alternative rewards on other cards.
~$600 conventional supermarket spend * 6 months = $3600 spend.
3600 * 7 = 25,200 MRs more than from EDP.
That comfortably beats a plain 100k offer for me.
Remind me...what's the rule about picking an airline for the extras credit on a new Platinum? Can I wait a few months to pick one, until I'm about ready to book?
As long as you have not used any of the credit, you can switch airlines mid year. I recently switched my Gold airline from Delta to Alaska for an upcoming trip. So setting an unused new Platinum credit should be the same drill.
