I balanced transferred using my chase account number instead of credit card

Hey all, I made a balance transfer of $2000 from citi to chase and the transfer was already posted and cleared on my citi account on 12/14/17. As of today, chase has not received any transfers on my account. I called citi to confirm and I found out that I put my chase checking account number (the 9 digit one from my voided check) instead of my credit card number. I'm a little bit worried that I might be out $2000 but I did clarify my mistake on citi that I put my account number instead of credit card number. They told me they will conduct an investigation and follow up within 3-5 day. My question is why did my transfer go through? Will it appear on my checking account instead?

You'd think it would. Hopefully someone else will chime in!

Did you include a routing number? If not , a checking account number shouldn't be enough, unless citi had some history (Did you pay citi with it before)

Worse case it could come back as a returned payment, but hopefully not

Even though it's just 1's and 0's it seems to take a while to kick it back. I'd expect it to be returned and you'll have to then do another BT.
