My Discover More card had an exciting year starting in May 2014. Temporary CLI from $5k to $8k, BT offers for the same 12 months, Spend $1k and get 10% back, more BT offers, it was fun.
And then after the temporary CLI expired in May 2015, and I could use the CLI button, I did one SP CLI request, and got a $1k CLI to $6k. Woop woop?
And saw the existing BT offer disappear from my account. And saw the CLI button not work (insufficient time with current CL). It basically broke the card.
I called tonight to ask whether the APR of 18.24% (which they had reduced from 19.99% last year) could be further reduced. Because I have a current 4.99% no BT Fee BT going until early 2017 (the last of the BT offers I saw),. no, I can't get an APR reduction until that is paid off. They will send me a letter, but I'm sure the block is the existing BT APR. It's only $1,200 remaining, and my autopay of $209 will take care of that soon enough, but it's time to get rid of the Discover More (Less) card and the 0.25% First Level rewards structure on the first $3k of non-category spend.
"Oh, yes, certainly, we can PC the card to the it. Let me transfer you". So, starting a month from now, when the new billing cycle starts, at least the base level rewards won't totally suck, even if the card probably remains broken with no fun offers for who knows how long. At least it's busy with a BT until the 2016 rewards are announced, because it's not getting any usage the rest of the year with these categories.

But if you have the More, You can apply for the It, and have double the rewards!

I did not really understand how bad it was until just a few months ago. And the circus parade of offers that were coming in the mail, and no one with a it getting anything like the same thing, was intoxicating. I didn't want to PC to the it while they were sending so much fun my way.
Now that it's over, yeah, makes total sense to PC, so that's todays call

Yes, but I don't need the HP, and would not utilize it enough to really create a noticeable doubling. I have other travel cards that get more attention, and even more cards in mind that I want to save the HP for.
The new app for the it and double rewards, yes, does make sense for a lot of people.
Well they Sending that fun also to the It. for some reason i have a different Bt offer Daily on my Disco. I took advantage of another 12 months. BT. just last week. so i actually have 3 things going on at the same time on 1 card.
My 14 months. 0 percent Expires. in october. Then i have my original Bt that expires in november. for $600. And another Bt that expires Next july. So pretty much just Sded the Card and set autopay for $300 each month. Will take care of the total 3k balance on the card. im sure i will pay a little interest here and there. But Disco has been the Best. I also have the Double cash back offer. But i will not use it. I can't. if i ever want to bring balance down. using Freedom and Double cash for bonuses instead.

I might be accused of 'living under a rock' (LOL), but this is the first time I've ever heard of a 'Temporary CLI'. I've read a lot about 'temporary APR decreases', and have even been offered one a few times myself, but a temporary CLI just seems like it could be an nightmare, both in administration and in practice.
Is a temporary CLI a common thing?
