I have a Barclaycard Rewards MC, and it is a dedicated SD card except for putting a couple $$ on it here and there. Barclay sent out offers for 2x bonus points on top of the normal points that are earned between 7/1/17 - 9/30/17. I know Barclay is a dirty word on here for most people, but would you use this card for the points boost, or just stick with the banks that you are trying to build the best relationships with? I primarily use PenFed Power Cash for most things, Amex BCE for groceries, Navy GoRewards for food, and Amex Platinum for travel.

I personally have few complaints about Barclaycard, but if you don't like them as a bank, why would you feel conflicted about taking extra rewards from them and being an unprofitable customer?

I didn't really think of it that way. The problem that i have with them is that they, as others feel, treat you with such jealousy around other lenders. They are my only denial in 2.5 years, and that came this year, but right after it came an unprovoked CLI that was brought on by no spending through the card in almost 6 months. When I called in for recon on my denial, they questioned my new accounts, I explained why I got each one, and they basically said that Barclays has no more money for me... Two weeks later, my statement cut and i was given a 170% increase, so i was a little confused. I do like the approach of why not get as paid more from them and be less profitable for them.
Thanks CB
I can't stand Chase but I glady took their 60,000 Southwest Points. I like Barclay in the 3 1/2 months I have had their Arrival + and they just approved me for the Aviator Red as well. I wouldn't think of it as building relationships as I think of it as how can they benefit me the most.
Chase has been pretty good to me. I got my CSP ~1 1/2 years ago, went from 5K to 6K, then just recently it jumped to 10.5K, all CLIs I didn't request. My Hyatt card went from 5K to 6K, no request. Of course, I think that's how they work anyway, but still.
Chase won't let me in the door, but Barclay has been good to me...4 year old Apple card and a 3 month old Frontier Airlines card...10,000 points for making a purchase, any purchase. The only decent flight for me on Frontier is to PHX to visit my parents but I truly can't complain about Barclay.
I would have no qualms about using their offer...they might surprise you. I leased a VW recently, got bored with appliance-like Hondas and thought I'd try something different even though there are reports online about reliability issues...so far I love the car. It may turn into a POS, or they may have earned a long-term customer, time will tell. Give Barclay a shot.

If you are going to judge a bank by the credit limit they give you that seems a pretty low standard. Chase gave us 27k on our Southwest card right out of the gate. Still don't like them.
I think this whole "relationship" propoganda tossed around this website is stupid. Use the card that suits you, not some weird goal of becoming a banks bestie.
