I paid off an amex with a balance transfer. The next day my limit went from 10k to 300. Ill never do that again unless I plan on closing the card.
Wow.. sorry to hear that. If they are going to do that then what is the point of offering them then. That is not cool..

I've done this as well, never had an issue.

The BT will go through since it's a payment. They don't care where it comes from.
I don't really understand what you did but returning merchandise doesn't usually trigger FR.
Possibly something else on reports? Or you hadn't used the card in a while?
Agree with above post. Please check your reprots

I did recently app for the slate card but that was for the balance transfer .
I actually dont don't usually use my Amex card much except at Costco and during a 6 day spen charged $1,221.48 twice which 1 was pending charge that never gone through because it was a hold and $1,600 charge .
For what it's worth, I've BT'd from both of my AMEX cards once (one in around June/July of this year, and another time within the last month), and I haven't heard a word from them. Both times, I BT'd to my Barclaycard Ring (got to love the 8% APR instead of 14.99% on my BCE, and 22.24% on my Blue Sky). It may be that you don't frequently use the card, and then had two large transactions. I frequently use my AMEX cards (normally at least once a day), and always PIF (or BT the remainder to the Ring). Sorry that happened to you.

Yeah it sucks but whatever if they decide to close it yeah it hurts my utilization but oh well. I only really used it at Costco . I can always apply for the fidelity Amex or bank of Americas or something

I think you are throwing in the towel a bit early. Don't delay sending the 4506-T. If you wait until next week, good luck getting it through the USPS over Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, etc.
The BT from Chase will lighten the account. The return of the laptop will get sorted, so sending the 4506-T now just gets AMEX comfortable that your annual income is what you say it is.
Send in the 4506-T today, and I say your chances of losing this account are very small, nearly zero chance of closing.
Delay or miss getting the 4506-T to them, and your risk of account closure goes way, way up. The Borg wants that 4506-T and is unlikely to rest until it appears, or the deadline passes and termination can proceed.
Your call.
