We're with a local credit union, have been for two years now. My first app of my app spree was with them. All I asked for was a $500 limit. Granted, my income is only $26000 a year, but, I'm not on the mortgage nor on any car loans. My payments including my student loan are only $100 a month.
They finally called me today and told me that I need a cosignor for that $500 credit card because my income just isn't high enough.
I laughed and told her not to worry about it, I didn't need the card that bad. On the bright side, I don't think they even pulled my credit, just decided that $26,000 a year wasn't enough income to handle a $500 credit card. Granted, I know that CU's are usually fairly conservative, but that's hilarious. Thought I would share.

Some CUs are great. Some aren't. I just got a $2500 Visa from my CU that will likely just sit in my safe. A year ago, they didn't even want to give me a card. Oh well.

I know the feeling, mine denied my credit card request, just after AMEX and Chase approved mine APs, I had been a customer of the credit union for 10+ years at the time, and no bounced checks, or anything from them, they mostly complained about a couple collections that were 5+ years old at the time of the AP. I also didn't have a limited income and they could see it, yet still the denial, so I use them for checking and savings, they can keep there cards.
