I'll give my recent experience, as I just did this last month. I tried two days early from the 61 days and I was denied. I called AMEX and the guy told me I tried too early and to try again (he gave me the specific date). The date he gave me was 62 days after my account had been created. I tried again then (like 3 days later), and I get 3x CLI approved on the spot.

Thanks!
91 days from the date you activated it since it was a denial at that time. I did the same thing and it's not 6 months. The 6 month rule is for approved CLI's.
Thank you! I will contact them just in case to see what the date is I can request.

Be very careful about what date you use. There are folks on here who report continuing to try for an AMEX CLI, trying again within the 91 days, and re-starting the denial wait clock again. Multiple times.
I would tend to think your recent request may have re-started the clock for 91 days, but hopefully AMEX can confirm for you.
@glamchick wrote:So i read on here some people were able to get a cli upon activation. So i tried and they said nope. So i tried for my 3x cli on the 61st from reciving the card. They said nope because i already applied when i got the card...so do i wait another 91 days?
I did the exact same thing. I decided to play it safe and counted 91 days from the 2nd denial. It was hard, because I read here that you can try at 91 days after being denied at 61 days. I am glad I waited, I got the 3x increase, no problem. That's my expierence. Good luck to you
The 91 day clock doesn't reset if you try again early. Just wait until the right date and try again and it works just fine instead of waiting another 90 days. Been there, done that.
