Had my BK back in Oct 2010 and burnt AMEX for a few thousands. I tried to apply for their cards a few months back but credit was never pulled. So I am sure I was on their blacklist. After seeing a few approval posts on here, I tried their pre qual last night and to my surprised, it showed that I was pre qual for 3 of their cards.

Unfortunately you can get a prequal and still be on the blacklist. The only way to know is to app. If you don't get a HP, still on the list.

That’s why I am debating if I wanted to app. I don’t really need their card right now. But I gotta admit though, I am very tempted to find out ....

As mentioned upthread, the pre-qualification portal is not interlinked with their internal db. Once you submit the application, you'll know where you stand as far as their blacklist.
