Wife and I are both out because of inquiries..

I believe my mother is interested though.

I'll call up my grandmother.

HOWEVER, looking at the CL's people are reporting (a short 5 minute search here) I would be worried about getting a 2K limit of something like that. 2K would be counter productive for the use I might need this card for (carry a balance). Do you have any input on starting limits for the ring?

While some creditors tend to have easier underwirting requirements it's not the card that determines the APR and limit but your credit that determines what you qualify fo r so be careful relying on research based on the experiences of others.

NFCU could be a good choice if you're not bumping into whatver max exposure would be for your profile.  USAA has granted me some decent limits and their Rate Advantage card has a low bottom end.  You can look at the Credit Pulls Database as it includes starting limit info but keep in mind that's it's never just about score.

Is NFCU likely to match a CL on a 2nd card?

Creditors do not simply match limits.  Again, limits are based on what one's credit qualifies for.  Limits are factored into the assessment of one's credit but they're just one factor among others.

Womp Womp Womp...
I got approved for the NFCU Platinum, but not the details I wanted... 2K SL @12.99

The SL isnt that big of a deal for me because it will grow with NFCU, the 12.99 was not what I wanted. 1yr from today I will request a rate reduction.

Thanks for everyones input!

In the garden I go! I have more than I need now... time to let it grow. This board is amazing, how far I have come with y'alls help in just over a year!

Congrats on your approval dsmer!  Smiley Happy  Sorry to hear that the terms were  not the ideal you were looking for -- hopefully in time, they will be able to eventually reduce your APR further and increase your CL though, now that you are successfully in the door with them?

Well it is my second card with them and forth loan product. I have been a member since Feb, 2014 and do most of my banking with them, I pretty much jumped all the way in with NFCU soon after I joined and have loved every minute of it. I am not that disappointed by the credit limit because I don't need it right now and I know it will grow quickly. I really wanted the lower rate.

I am considering asking to transfer 7.5K of my limit from my cash rewards card to this new platinum card. I am due to push the luv button near the end of this month on my cash rewards card anyways. I only worry about transferring 7.5K from my 17.5K limit on my rewards card because if I do not get another CLI on the rewards card soon I could be inconvenienced sometimes having to make mid cycle payments, a few times in the past year I have put around 10k though that card in a month.

Re: I want to add a low rate card to my lineup, recommend something good please!

Just to update this thread, I waited until I had 6 staetments and I hit the CLI button yesterday. I went from 2K to  24K. I should have asked for the 25 but I hit 24 by mistake. I forgot about the rate, I am going to call them tomorrow and ask for a rate reductuction. IIRC NFCU does a rate reduction every 6 months,I hope it is not a hard though because if so I will not do it. I am in the garden I guess...

I also wonder, I have not had a CLI on my NFCU CashRewards for a while, I use it HEAVILY, 3-10K a month depending on the season. I always PIF so it dosent matter much but I would like it to be at 25K also. Does one soft CLI effect another with NFCU? Will the Soft CLI on my Platinum card cause the system to not allow a standard soft CLI on my CashRewards?
