I closed my quicksilver one and savor one(no bonus on either) for that reason, they were my rebuild cards and were bucketed for years. 5 months later Capital One sent me a $300 bonus to apply for the quicksilver, I assume it's the Visa card for excellent credit.
@Anonymous wrote:Wow so cards that start 5178 are bucketed I'm doom at 300 bucks lol they did let me upgrade it to Quicksilver though.
Mine is a Quicksilver as well. I just run up the cashback and use it to pay for small charges here and there. I have no reason to close it, so I won't. But I also have no real reason to use it, either.
This is my thread about Capital One and how they worked out for me. They are interesting for sure.

I am in the same boat I started at $250, and worked it up to $6500 about 5 years ago. since then it is declined for "insufficient income". My six-figure income is insufficient.
I thought about applying for a new card, but their policy to do triple pulls is just enough to attract me to their products. I also did the preapproval (maybe they pull TU which is frozen) and all they offered was secured cards. laughable for an 820+ score on all 3.
I am in complete shock. I just tried this, using your instructions to find the = sign in the URL, then tack "/productupgrade" onto the end and find the new, altered URL. Wowee, "You are eligible for an upgrade." THANK YOU!
I had a plain old Cap On and they're offering me a Quicksilver with cash back !!!!!
No change in interest rate and CL stays $1,000, the only change being 1.5% cash back. Truthfully, I don't care about cash back, but I'll take it since it's an "upgrade." I may be bucketed (I noticed Cap One is pretty bad for doing that) but since I had a BK 2 years ago and this is one of my first rebuilder cards, I'm just happy that any kind of supposed upgrade was offered.
... you're still bucketed. they just giving you a different card

I think OP is aware of that. They're still grateful for the upgrade nonetheless. Plus 1.5% cashback is better than NO cashback.
@Reviewers wrote:5178 bucket is a myth imo. Both of my cards start in 5178 and I have had multiple CLI throughout the years of owning my 2x Capital One cards. Also was able to PC my platinum cards into quicksilver and the venture one @Anonymous My brothers card also starts with 5178..
I'm glad you told us this! My new QS1 begins with a 5178 and my SL in August of 2021, following BK7 discharge, was $3k. I'd rather have 3k bucketed than $500. I've burned them too.
Thanks for this post - I just tried this with the "Product upgrade" addition on my Savor One and an update to the Venture One popped up!

Don't take the VentureOne product change. It's a effectively a downgrade from SavorOne with a lesser rewards structure. Usually it's people wanting to change cards over to SavorOne.
