Hi, DI!
My personal preference is to have as little contact with the banks/card companies as possible.

ditto. i pay my bills at my convenience. i don't inform them of anything, because i might change my mind or something might come up that would take that money.
Only when paying by mail and was very close to due date.
Only pay online now, so I see no reason.
My wife calls and complains when they post the payment but hold the credit limit past a week.

They will get it before the statement cuts too!

Does anyone else contact banks to inform them of a payment you'll make? I charged $650 to my Capital One card on Feb. 16th. I sent Cap One an email informing them, I will make a payment of $650 on Feb. 25th. They replied and said they notated my account. Is it necessary to contact banks to inform them about making a future payment? I think it builds a good relationship with the banks.
Nope...no need to. I want to keep my options open. We always pay before the statements drop, but I want the flexibility of paying when I decide and not because I told them I would.
Why?
What about this charge or payment made you contact them?
What did you hope contacting them would accomplish or avoid?
