Informing the bank of future payments

Does anyone else contact banks to inform them of a payment you'll make?  I charged $650 to my Capital One card on Feb. 16th.  I sent Cap One an email informing them, I will make a payment of $650 on Feb. 25th.  They replied and said they notated my account.  Is it necessary to contact banks to inform them about making a future payment?  I think it builds a good relationship with the banks.

Re: Informing the bank of future payments

Hi, DI!

My personal preference is to have as little contact with the banks/card companies as possible.

ditto.  i pay my bills at my convenience.  i don't inform them of anything, because i might change my mind or something might come up that would take that money.

Re: Informing the bank of future payments

Only when paying by mail and was very close to due date.

Only pay online now, so I see no reason.

My wife calls and complains when they post the payment but hold the credit limit past a week.

Re: Informing the bank of future payments

The only time I have ever called a bank/credit card company was to inform them I would be on vacation and planned on using the card out of state.

They will get their money when you have it. Simple as that.

Nope...no need to. I want to keep my options open. We always pay before the statements drop, but I want the flexibility of paying when I decide and not because I told them I would.

Re: Informing the bank of future payments

Why?

What about this charge or payment made you contact them?

What did you hope contacting them would accomplish or avoid?
