I was researching something totally unrelated and came across this article from the Free Lance-Star newspaper (Fredericksburg, VA) dated February 28, 1984. Apparently on that date it became OK for merchants to pass along credit card surcharges to customers. It's interesting reading the viewpoints of the businesses back then. We've hypothesized at length in this forum over recent weeks and months about how merchants must feel about this today, now that it's allowed again. Gotta wonder if these same merchants would feel the same way today.

I know Roses is still around, but since 1984 has been through a bankruptcy and a buyout, reinventing itself as little more than a big dollar store... wonder how quick they would be to pass along these fees today?
