Re: Interesting preapproval - no HP to accept?

Welcome to the world of CU's. They will think of ways to get you in even if they have to bend some practices. Replacing a HP with an SP is one of the most common acceptance practices after consolidating HP's for 30 days into 1. Just select the card you want and enjoy since you have nothing to lose.

The only possible negative is that is will be a new account, so if you a) want a Chase card and b) are close to 5/24, this might preclude you getting it.   But if you don't want a Chase card, or are either way over or under, then yes, just a small ding to the AAoA.

Just be sure it's a card you really want. Your signature suggests you like travel perks and bonuses.

If you're going to add a new account either way, you might find it to be worth an inquiry to get a card you especially want, rather than what your CU is marketing.

Re: Interesting preapproval - no HP to accept?

As long as there are no fees with it, why not? It is a good credit line and can only help boost your score if used right. Unless you are planning a major purchase in a few months, I would pull the trigger. Good luck

Well, it can initially reduce score as well due to the AAoA hit.  New lines only help with utilization, which, if you can PIF, you can control anyway.

And a $10k CL with a nice bonus has just the same positive effect on utilization as $10k with no bonus.

Not all cards combine good bonuses with a 0% period, though.
