Re: Is Chase as bad as they say?

My husband received an adverse action letter for lack of usage on his Chase Amazon account. They said since he had not used the card in a couple of years they were going to close it.
I called and the rep acted like it was an error. She said they would not be closing his account, and as of today it is still active (and still under used).

Im no fan of Chase but in my short time i had the APV, didnt experience any problems. If you keep it simple, buy and pay , you should have no problemsSmiley Wink. Id say judgi g from my experience here at myFico, the vast majority here like their card and dont have alot of issues. APR and limits are usually the biggest gripes lol, but thats Chase for yaSmiley Wink

Re: Is Chase as bad as they say?

Haven't had any problems with my Chase amazon account. I spend about $100 every other month. The one thing they will not do for sure is lower my APR. Other than that great card.

If you build it, they will come.

Re: Is Chase as bad as they say?

I have 3 Chase cards: 24k, 24k, and 26k limits.  Highest limits of any cards I have. Don't see them as being conservative.

Re: Is Chase as bad as they say?

Chase is only as bad as they say if you do not do your due dilligence and practice responsible credit management. Having said that, they're also as good as everyone says. There's a reason why the Sapphire and Freedom lines are so popular on these forums! While I abhor their silly little 5/24 rule and stickler tendancies for locking APRs, I would rather have a Chase card than not have one at all!

I'm with you. Freedom with the revolving categories is nice if you want to plan purchases and the sign ups can be good. I got CFU last summer with the $150 for $500 in purchases. That is a great bonus and 1.5% isn't terrible. They have some good partnerships as well at least some that I shop at. Amazon Visa at 5% CB is wonderful.

BUT, the 5/24 rule is an absolute joke. I've been happy overall.

That has more to do with the rewards program(s) than Chase's conduct towards their customers. If you're looking for more personalized service from Chase, you need a JP Morgan personal banker. If you don't have one, expect better service from AMEX and your local credit union.

1.5% redeemed for "cash" isn't terrible, sure, but many people transfer the points earned from the Freedom Unlimited to the "pool" of points earned by the Sapphire cards, and then transfer them to partners, which then increases the value significantly.

Re: Is Chase as bad as they say?

Chase has been great to me. They’ve given me two auto CLI and I haven’t had the card for a year yet. They were the first (and only) bank to give me a cl over 5,000 let alone over 10,000. Amex is still stuck at 1,000, and Discover isn’t much better. So since they’ve been good to me I use the card as my main card. I have nothing but good things to say but I’ve heard Chase gets jealous hence the 5/24.
