Is This a Pre-approved Offer or Just Marketing?

I've never gotten an email from chase about getting a card before and they sent me an email asking if I was still interested in the freedom unlimited and said I would need to apply before June 21st or the offer expires.  Should I take or leave it?  I just got the Walmart card in April and that makes me 7/24.  Does this mean I would be approved through the back door of the 5/24 rule?  I was planning on getting this card later so I could combine the limit after a year to make my freedom flex limit bigger.  However, I was in the middle of gardening for US Bank in December.  What should I do?  Is this how getting around 5/24 works?Screenshot_20210607-084949.png

That looks like marketing to me.

I don't trust things to be pre-approvals unless it actually has the words "pre-approved" in the email or letter.

Ok thanks!  I will treat it as such and delete it.

Re: Is This a Pre-approved Offer or Just Marketing?

It looks like marketing to me also as it doesn't reflect "pre-approved" . . . I would continue to stay in the garden for US Bank in December.

I can't tell you whether to take it or not.  But I can tell you it's not a preapproval.

You can check on the site for your preapprovals.

And you can check at a branch.

I always look for a set apr (the lower the better) if no set apr then most are just marketing.

That looks like marketing.

Re: Is This a Pre-approved Offer or Just Marketing?

I just checked my email and they just sent me an actual preapproval today.  It says I'm preapproved this time!  This is my first approval I've ever gotten from a prime bank!  I won't take the offer but I am definitely glad that these prime banks are starting to look at me now.

Re: Is This a Pre-approved Offer or Just Marketing?

I logged into my chase account today and they are practically offering all their cards to me all with a set apr and everything.  Says I'm pre-approved for each chase card!  I don't need any of them but it's nice to know that my credit is this good.  Took me near 2 years to get to this point.
